Sanford Jenkins Jr. was born and raised in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Germantown. He later graduated from Morehouse College and USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, with moments between in New York’s financial and film spaces.

Sanford’s filmwork has screened at Camerimage, Palm Springs, and BlackStar film festivals, with support from Directors Notes, NoBudge, and Vimeo. His writings have been published by Violet Summer and New Life Quarterly. In 2017, Sanford’s USC diploma film, A Craftsman, received an Outstanding Directorial Achievement award from the DGA, coinciding with the launch of the film’s multi-year release. In 2018, Sanford was named a Small But Mighty Arts micro-grant recipient, and a member of CASSIUS’ inaugural Creative Class.

Sanford resides in Northern California.
